Year 6 Take on London!
Our Year 6 pupils swapped school uniforms for sightseeing as they set off on an unforgettable adventure to London! It was an early start, with bleary-eyed but excited children (and staff!) meeting at 5:30am at Preston train station, ready for an action-packed day in the capital.
The first stop was the Houses of Parliament, where we were lucky enough to have a question and answer session with our local MP, Sir Lindsay Hoyle. The children asked some brilliant questions and were a credit to our school throughout.
From there, we braved the London Underground (which was a highlight in itself for many!) and headed off to explore more of the city. A fascinating tour of the Tower of London gave us a glimpse into the past – and a look at the Crown Jewels, too!
We managed to squeeze in plenty more sightseeing, including Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, the Shard, and the London Eye. There was lots of walking, plenty of photos, and even more memories made.
It was a truly special day that brought learning to life and gave our pupils a deeper understanding of our country’s history and democracy. A huge thank you to all the staff and children for making the day such a great success. Year 6, you did us proud!
