Meet our Governors
Mr Andrew Vose
Chair of Governors
Nominated Governor for Health & Safety - Geography Ambassador
I have been a Civil Servant with HM Revenue and Customs for the past 25 years. My current role is Tax Inspector based in Manchester specialising in Customs Fraud following Brexit.
I have a keen interest in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which I also coach; both adults and children’s classes. I have taught some of this in school as part of the Building the Kingdom curriculum. I also enjoy walking and running in our beautiful Lancashire countryside. Both my children attended St Joseph's; Isaac is now attending Holy Cross and Eva is in Y6.
Mr Andrew King
Vice Chair of Governors
Mathematics Ambassador
I am a retired financial analyst, having spent many years in the IT industry.
I have been a St. Joseph's parishioner for more than 30 years, during which my four children passed through the full Catholic education cycle, starting at St. Joseph's.
My faith is my driving force and I am involved in a number of activities in the Parish, including Eucharistic Minister & Gift Aid Organiser. I currently run a gardening club each week in school with a fellow parishioner. We help the children to tend to our newly developed polytunnel and encourage a passion for home growing and caring for our environment.
I have several hobbies including a passion for sport, particularly cricket & football, gardening, music, keeping fit & travelling.
As a member of the Governing Board, I see our role as one to assist Mrs Douglas and all her colleagues in any way that we can to optimise the spiritual & learning development of every child that comes to the school within a happy and safe environment.
Canon Peter Stanley
Foundation Governor
Religious Education Ambassador
I was ordained a priest in 1983. I came to Chorley as Parish Priest at St. Joseph's in December of 1994.
I had three other appointments before I came to Chorley: 6 years at St. Luke's, Whiston and 5 years in Southport at St. Marie's and then Our Lady of Lourdes.
I was asked by the Archbishop in 2016 to be a member of the Metropolitan Cathedral Chapter.
Mr Dan Wilson
Foundation Governor
Nominated Governor for School Website - Science Ambassador
Dan Wilson CEng MEng(Hons) MIMechE
I am a Chartered Engineer specialising in systems engineering and currently work for the local electricity distribution network operator on data strategy and governance. My child is currently a pupil at St. Joseph's School. Outside of work I enjoy hillwalking, orienteering and have recently finished converting my own campervan.
Mrs Anne Marie Doran
Foundation Governor
Computing & Design Technology Ambassador
I am both delighted and proud to be a Foundation Governor at St. Joseph's. As a member of the parish for all of my life, a former pupil myself and with my own two children attending the school, my youngest is currently in Y6, it's a fantastic opportunity to give something back. I am a strong advocate for academic achievement but also the personal development and well-being of our young people as individuals.
I have been a secondary school teacher within Catholic schools for almost 20 years! I am currently Curriculum Leader for Technology and Computing, with my specialist subjects including Computing and iMedia. I also fulfil the role of form teacher and have previously held the role of Pastoral Leader.
In my spare time I have a keen interest in film and photography, but I mainly enjoy getting to spend some quality time with my family.
My role as Foundation Governor is to ensure that all aspects of Catholic Education continue to be outstanding (as per our most recent RE inspection), and that the Catholic ethos of the school continues to be upheld by 'following the footsteps of Jesus we live, love and learn.'
Mr Stephen Tierney
Foundation Governor
I taught in the maintained sector for thirteen years before becoming Headteacher of St. Mary's, an 11-18 school, in Blackpool. Following thirteen years of headship I then became Executive Headteacher of the school and of a one form entry primary school. These schools formed a cross phase multi-academy trust, with one other primary school, which I led until December 2019.
Through my work I sought to develop a culture in which staff, children and young people could flourish. At the heart of this was the professional development of teachers and a more evidence-informed approach to school improvement. I currently work as a speaker and educational consultant, supporting schools and school leaders on curriculum, teaching & learning and leadership development.
Miss Anita Tunstall
Foundation Governor
I am a parishioner of St Josephs and am involved in the parish as a Eucharistic Minister. I was also one of the Synod representatives. My working background is in various nursing posts.
I have recently stepped down from my involvement with the Archdiocesan Youth Pilgrimage to Lourdes after 36 years! Through this work, I had the privilege of sharing a part of their faith journey with so many young people. I also lived in Lourdes for several years in my teens.
My hobbies include reading, baking and cake decorating. I have previously taught sugarcraft classes as part of the Building the Kingdom programme.
Mrs Annie Douglas
Headteacher
Writing Ambassador
I have been the very proud Headteacher of St Joseph's since January 2020. I was born and raised in Chorley but have been working in schools in Blackburn with Darwen for most of my career so it is very special for me to be back in my home town.
I am a St Joseph's parishioner; the school, church and community also work very closely to nurture our children on their faith and learning journeys.
I love travelling and getting outside to explore with my husband and children.
Mr Karl Broohead
Deputy Headteacher

I am very proud to have recently become the Deputy Headteacher of St. Joseph's. I have been a part of this parish all my life and attended the school as a child. I have taught at St. Joseph's since 2012 and currently lead Mathematics and English across school. I am particularly interested in the use of technology in the classroom and in the use of evidence-informed research to drive pupil outcomes. In my free time, I enjoy anything sports related and spending time with my young family.
Mrs Lesley Clarkson
School Business Manager / Staff Governor
Nominated Governor for Training Link - Art Ambassador
I have worked at St Joseph’s since November 2003 as the school business manager, a role I am very passionate about. Both of my daughters attended St Joseph’s, during this time I was a parent governor. I have been a parishioner of St Joseph’s throughout my life and my family have always been heavily involved with the parish. I am currently a serving Eucharistic Minister within our Church. I enjoy reading, travelling and watching football.
Mrs Rachael Olsen
Parent Governor
Nominated Governor for Safeguarding - Reading & PE Ambassador
It is an honour and a privilege to be a governor at St Joseph's, Chorley - a school very close to my heart. I have been a part of the parish all of my life and I attended the school as a child. I am very proud that my own children are now pupils here at St Joseph's. My son is in Y6 and my daughter is in Y1. St Joseph's offers inclusivity to all pupils and places great value on diversity.
I have over 15 years experience of working with children and family safeguarding. I believe that St Joseph's excels in ensuring that all families are supported and I'm proud to be part of that. I have a passion for sport with a playing and coaching background in netball. You will see me coaching pupils in school and engaging in school life as much as I am able to.
Mr Ben Davies
Parent Governor
Music Ambassador
I am a Board Director of Go Ape, spending my professional life developing the company and opening new high ropes courses around the country. I have had a varied career – managing a supermarket, being a teacher and working in a commercial role for a local authority.
I enjoy spending time with my wife, two children, my youngest is in his last year of St Joseph’s, and Bruno the Spaniel who ensures we get to explore the hills and woods around Chorley. I love climbing when I get the chance and exploring the mountains of Snowdonia and Cumbria.
