On Saturday 18th September, as you may well know, Sir Lindsay Hoyle had the pleasure of hosting the Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Group of 7 countries, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, USA and the UK, as well as the President of the EU Parliament in Chorley.

It was a fantastic day for Chorley, with the town giving the visiting Speakers and Presiding Officers a very warm Lancashire welcome!
Sir Lindsay Hoyle, thought it important for all of the schools in Chorley to be represented at the Conference. Therefore he asked all schools in the constituency to nominate one student to attend the ceremony.

We nominated Olivia in Year 6, a fantastic pupil who is a great ambassador for St Joseph's.
Olivia went to Astley Hall on Saturday where all the children from each school were accompanied by staff from the House of Commons for the conference. There were lots of photo opportunities! Olivia met Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. Olivia also managed to take a picture with friend of St Joseph's, Sir Lindsay Hoyle. It was such a fantastic event for our small town, we were even treated to a special flypast from the Red Arrows to mark the occasion.
