Did those feet walk upon England’s mountains green?

23 May 2016

Did those feet walk upon England’s mountains green? Well on Friday ours did. We spent the day at the Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockholes. Thankfully the rain held off which made it 2 out of 3 pleasant days for Mrs Crowther’s trips to the Lakes.

We had a brilliant time learning more about the Lake District including some of its culture especially some of the weird and wonderful phrases they use. For example do you know what mash means in Cumbria? Kaisty? or Addle? Your children might. There were one or two phrases that we were familiar with such as jabber and yatterin. Limbrick class are really good at both of those!

We spent the day following various trails to find out more about the Lakes as well as one of its most famous residents, Beatrix Potter. All of us had the chance to sit and relax by Lake Windermere and take in the idyllic view across to the Langdales and have a go at sketching the scenery.

To top it all off we were visited by some of the RAF’s finest practicing their skills up and down the lake, which certainly made all of our heads turn. The problem was they flew by so fast we only managed to get a few snaps of them.

The journey home was a long one and one or two of us dropped off on the coach – a clear sign that it was a great day out!
