The Sound of Silence
The Sound of Silence
The children of Rivington 5 have, this week, been composing their own musical ‘score’ for a Sci-Fi Space movie. The score was split into three separate sequences entitled ‘Blast Off,’ ‘Moon Landing’ and ‘Walking on the Moon.’ The children first learned about musical notation and then translated this into music on the Ipad ap, ‘Garageband.’ The children learned to select appropriate instruments, such as the electronic synth rather than a grand piano and then to record the score in separate parts before editing and moving around the various components of the score. They also added voice recordings such as the famous, “One small step for man…” quote and overlay it. The final pieces will be ready next week so watch this SPACE!
In literacy we have begun our space play scripts which not only focus on the structure of a play script text but also on the characteristics of the main characters as well as themes such as heroism and loyalty. In maths we have studied geometry and have translated and reflected shapes in the first quadrant.
