Busy Birkacre!

What a busy week we have had this week. We have done fractions with cake – always a winner! They should all be able to cut up any birthday cake or pizza equally now and name the fraction.

We have also been finding and naming co-ordinates on the netbooks and playing battleships. They should all be experts in map reading soon! Pirates beware!!!!

Father Peter came in for an interview session and was grilled by Birkacre on his roles and responsibilities as well as his job likes and dislikes.

We have done further investigations into conductors and insulators using the netbooks and researching websites to find the information we need.

As part of our topic on The Rotten Romans we have designed and made our own pizzas and written instructions for how to make them. In answer to many questions about this, yes, the Romans did eat pizza. Poorer Romans who worked in the fields had bread topped with tomatoes and cheese for their lunch, the idea spread to some of the towns in Italy whose eating houses then began to serve this and warming it up in the ovens – the beginnings of the humble pizza!
