Volcanologists at Work!

This week we have been continuing with our Angry Earth topic. So far, we have discovered what a volcano is and where to find them. We’ve also looked at whether or not we’d like to live near a volcano and believe it or not…some of us actually said yes!

This week our learning challenge was “Can you recreate a volcanic eruption?” Children split into groups and set about their task, using a plastic bottle to act as the magma chamber and main vent. They then used newspaper to build their volcano up to the desired shape and size. Once they’d dried, Yarrow class painted them in volcanic colours.

Keep your eyes peeled as we predict that these volcanoes will be very active and erupting very soon!
