Science and Industry museum in Manchester

A Grand Day Out

On Tuesday 6^th October Birkacre had a wonderful day out at the Science and Industry museum in Manchester. The visit related to our topic of Around the world in 80 days where we looked at the history of transport and the people who pioneered it.

We listened to a talk about how steam engines worked, looked around the exhibits and engine parts as well as seeing inside a steam train. We spend quite some time in the air and space hall which gave the children time to draw their favourite form of transport as well as talking to some of the men who look after the vehicles in the museum.
