There have been some very confused faces around school this week as Mrs Crowther has been asking everyone to bring in as many hammers as they could into school. ‘Why do you need all those hammers?’ ‘What are we going to build?’ were just a few of the questions being asked. All soon became apparent on Thursday during Limbrick class’ art lesson.
The children have been learning about different ways in which flowers can be recreated in art. They have studied pencil drawings and watercolours. This week they were learning about a technique called Hapa Zome and an artist called India Fisher. Hapa Zome uses the natural dyes in flowers to create a print onto cloth. To do this however you need to whack the flowers with a hammer to make all the dye come out.
If you would like to see the results, pop into the junior entrance of school to see them on display in the corridor.
