We’ve delved into the world of Roald Dahl this week as we started reading George’s Marvellous Medicine. We’ve conducted some quite in depth character analysis of our protagonist, George and our antagonist, the evil Grandma, through book analysis and a great drama session led by Sarah Lee. One thing we know for sure is that we wouldn’t want George’s grandma to be our own! Next week, we plan to look at the actually mixing of the medicine, extracting as much valuable description and vocabulary as possible (Roald Dahl is particularly good at this!)

We have now finished our science topic of Space with a seasons walk in to the park looking for the first signs of spring after winter. We looked at how it is the tilt of the Earth on its axis that creates the seasons… and the intensity of the sun’s energy over a given surface area that creates the differences throughout the year. Complicated stuff!

In Come and See we are looking at how memories are kept alive and anyone wanting to bring any memories to our focus table are more than welcome.

Next week, we move to our topic of Mega Mixes where we will be studying how mixtures and solutions can be combined and separated, with a particular focus on dissolving, evaporation and condensation.
