Eco School

Here’s the end of year update of what we have been doing:

We have been successful in gaining the Green Flag status following an assessment in school. Mrs Martin the assessor was extremely impressed with all our hard work over the last 18 months.

The Eco council attended an Eco schools roadshow at the Reebok stadium. The show gave us many ideas that we hope to carry out next year.

New Eco Council

We are proud to hand our good work over to the next Eco council that will run from September. The eco council for 2011-2012 will be:

Yr6: Keiran Smalley and Ruth Kirby
Yr5: Shelby Brindle and Taylor Walsh
Yr4: Siena Redmond and Mia Hall
Yr3: Lily Booth and Lorcan Grimshaw
Well done on your successful election.

Activities completed during the year

Wormery

The eco council have set up a Wormery to go in the quadrangle. We ‘feed’ the worms with kitchen and fruit scraps every Friday. The worms should help turn the food and garden waste into both liquid and normal compost for our school garden.

Water butt.

Mr.Roden has attached the water butt to the drain pipe which we can now use to water our Sensory Garden.

Water Pledges

All children made a pledge (promise) to save water wherever and however they could. Please try to help your children save water in your home too!
